Week Beginning: 08/09/25

Today in English, the children immersed themselves in drama to recreate key moments from our focus text 'The Whale'. Using the book’s powerful illustrations as inspiration, they worked in groups to capture tense scenes through “freeze frames” — from boats colliding to sailors reaching for ropes, looking up at the storm in fear, or steering their vessel through rough seas. As each group held their dramatic pose, the rest of the class watched closely, describing the moment and discussing the emotions shown through body language. They asked thoughtful questions about how the performers felt, deepening their understanding of character, atmosphere and tension. The session was filled with creativity, empathy and energy — a wonderful way to explore storytelling beyond the page. Well done!
