18. Week beginning 26/01/26
In Writing, we have been creating cliffhanger narratives inspired by our class novel, The Hound of the Baskervilles. The children have worked hard to build suspense and keep the reader hooked, using descriptive language and carefully chosen vocabulary to create tension — we have some fantastic authors in the making! ✍️📖
In Geography, we have been learning about the Amazon Rainforest. The children discovered that it is the largest remaining rainforest in the world and explored how deforestation is affecting the environment. We discussed how many plants, animals and indigenous communities are losing their homes, and considered what we can do to help protect this vital ecosystem. 🌳🌍
In Religious Education, we have been comparing Matthew and Luke’s descriptions of the Great Commandment. The children made links between Jesus’ teaching, parables and what this means for Christian life today, reflecting on how these messages can guide our own actions and choices. ✝️
In Computing, we have been continuing to develop our game design skills. The children have added features to customise their game worlds, created clear instructions to set the scene, and tested their games for playability. They have also evaluated and improved their work, showing great creativity and problem-solving skills. 💻🎮
