Our Learning

We had our first Forest School session this week! The children loved venturing out to explore their new environment, learning about boundaries and how to keep safe while having fun.

  • Games: We played high-energy games like "Where's my honey?" and parachute games to build teamwork and listening skills.
  • Feely Bag Game: To sharpen our senses, we played a "Nature Feely Bag" game. Children used their hands to identify hidden natural treasures— prickly pine cones, and feathers—describing how they felt without looking.

In our maths sessions, we’ve been using natural objects to explore the concepts of more and fewer (or less). By comparing two small piles of sticks and food in a lunchbox, the children are beginning to identify which group has a larger or smaller quantity.

Expressive Arts & Design (EAD)

Linking to this week's rhyme, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, we dove into the world of Vincent van Gogh.

  • We spent time looking at the swirls and bright colors in his masterpiece, The Starry Night.
  • The children then became little artists themselves, creating their own "Starry Night" versions using thick paint, forks for textured swirls, and yellow painted stars to make their skies glow.
