This week in nursery, the children have been engaged in a range of exciting and hands-on learning experiences across all areas of development:

Maths

• We explored sorting, we sorted objects by colour, size and shape.
• Children used tweezers to sort different poms poms, making pictures of currant buns and of some animals.
• Our number rhyme this week was "Five Currant Buns", which helped us with early subtraction skills in a fun and musical way.

Religious Education

• We learnt about the Creation Story, we used the story box to add to our creation scene.
• We discussed how beautiful our Wonderful World is.
• We went on a Creation Walk around school.

Understanding of the World

• As part of our healthy eating – looking after ourselves – we focused on looking after our bodies.
• After PE, we felt our hearts beating fast after our exercise.
• We also discussed how we can look after our teeth.

Expressive Art and Design

• We talked about all the different animals in our world. The children choose an animal to make, using their hand prints.

Phonics

• This week in Phase 1 phonics, we explored rhyme and rhythm.
• We listened to the story ‘Oi Cat’ and we are beginning to recognise a rhyming word.
• We listened to and repeated rhyming phrases.
