9. Week beginning 10/11/2025
In Forest School this week, the children used wood cookies and palm drills to create their own Chirstmas decorations.
In Science, the children investigated the properties of rocks, focussing particularly on which rocks are permeable and which rocks are impermeable. The children dropped their rocks into a pot of water and observed closely to see if there was a reaction. The children were very excited if their rocks were permeable as they observed bubbles escaping from the rocks!
Throughout the last week, I have asked the children to talk to their families about their family stories from World War 1 and 2. On Remembrance Day, we took the time to share some of our family stories, we looked at some World War 1 medals and took part in a very respectful two-minutes silence. The children have been very inquisitive throughout this time, asking deep questions around the topic of war and Remembrance Day.
On Friday, we celebrated Fun Day Friday, which traditionally marks the end of our 10-week block of learning. We were lucky to have Greg from Mark 10 Mission come to join us for a prayer and liturgy workshop. He brought the story of The Good Shepherd to life using some beautiful wooden figures and song. We then took part in some activities to inspire forgiveness and kindness, as Jesus asked of us.
