Our Learning
In Maths, we have been learning numbers to 5. We have been exploring how numbers up to 5 are made (for example, knowing that 4 can be made of 3 and 1, or 2 and 2). The children practised counting items accurately up to 5 using physical objects and matching them to numerals and ordering the numbers in the correct order.
In phonics, we have been focusing on our listening skills to hear and identify the individual sounds in simple Consonant-Vowel-Consonant words (like cat, dog, or pin). We have been practising writing our names, focusing on holding our pencils correctly and forming our letters carefully.
In Forest School, we played collaborative group games, practising our listening skills and spatial awareness. We collected a variety of different leaves, compared their shapes and sizes, and talked about the trees they came from. We used crayons to create beautiful leaf rubbings, looking closely at the natural patterns and textures.
In RE, we continued to learn about Jesus' special friends, the apostles. We discussed what makes someone a good friend, focusing on kindness, sharing, and helping each other. To celebrate our friendships in nursery, the children carefully threaded and created beautiful friendship bracelets to gift to their friends.
