Our Learning
This week, our busy learners became shape detectives! We dive deep into the world of 2D shapes, focusing on circles, triangles, and rectangles. The children used their hands, eyes, and creativity to explore how shapes make up the world around them.
Our Shape Adventures
- The Mystery Feely Bag: Children used their sense of touch to guess hidden shapes.
- Circle and Rectangle Hunts: We searched high and low inside and outside the nursery to find objects.
- Shape Sorting: Mini-mathematicians grouped shapes by their specific properties.
- Shape Art: We combined triangles, rectangles, and circles to build beautiful pictures.
In RE, we have been learning about:
- The Ascension: We heard how Jesus returned to heaven and how the early church began.
- Spreading Good News: The children imagined what the disciples might have said to share stories about Jesus.
- Celebrating Mary: As May is the month of Mary, we gathered for a beautiful Celebration of the Word to honour her. We listened to a beautiful singing version of the Hail Mary prayer and loved joining in with all the actions.
Even a bit of British rain couldn't stop our Forest School session. The damp weather provided the perfect conditions for natural play and problem-solving.
- Mud Kitchen Magic: The wet ground was perfect for mixing, stirring, and creating delicious mud pies.
- Bridge Building: The children worked as a team to pull heavy wooden stakes and gather logs to build a grand bridge.
- Balancing Acts: Everyone showed fantastic bravery and coordination while balancing carefully across our new bridge.
- Tyre Obstacle Course: We practiced our gross motor skills by rolling large tyres and creating a challenging, active course.
