Our Learning

Brrr! It’s been a chilly and exciting week as we explored the frozen North. Here is what the children have been learning:

  • Arctic Explorers: In our small world area, we’ve been playing with polar bears and penguins in a snowy landscape. We also experimented with ice, watching it melt and feeling how it changed from solid to cold water. In PE, we walked like penguins and slid like a walrus on ice.
  • Fine Motor Fun: We’ve been busy in the playdough station making snowy owls and practising our threading skills too, which is great for strengthening little hand muscles.
  • Maths: We’ve been exploring weight! The children used scales to compare heavy and light objects, figuring out which arctic animals might weigh the most.
  • Phonics: This week was a big revision week for our first four sounds: s, a, t, and p. We practised recognising and writing them, and we’ve even started blending them together to read simple words like "sat," "tap," and "pat."
