17. Week beginning 19/01/2026
In Maths this week, Year 3 have begun their Length & Perimeter topic. The children had the opportunity to use their rulers to measure items in the classroom in centimetres and millimetres.
They continued their rugby lessons in PE and showed a great amount of teamwork and resilience.
In Science, the children learnt that the human skeleton has three functions:
- providing support for the rest of the body, helping it to stand up straight and giving the body its shape
- protecting our organs
- allowing us to move, with the help of our muscles
The children were then asked to work as a team to build a structure to support a tennis ball. Each group was given 10 sheets of scrap paper, a roll of sellotape and a pair of scissors. They needed to build a strong enough structure to support their tennis ball, as a skeleton does for a body. They thoroughly enjoyed problem-solving and working together to create their structures.
