Week Beginning 14th July

We had our last Forest School session of the year. We went on a nature hunt looking for different objects. Mr McDonald built a fire, we cooked garlic bread, baked apples and made s'mores.  The children used their senses to see which direction the wind blew, hear the sounds of the fire, used a fire protection glove to heat their marshmallows and to taste the delicious food. The children learnt how to sit in our log circle and how to keep themselves safe around the fire. We then helped to put the fire out. In maths, we learnt about numbers to 6. We put candles onto birthday cakes in the playdough area, we rolled a die to recognise how many spots and could say different ways to make the number. In phonics, we learnt the phoneme /e/ for elelphant.
