Prayer & Liturgy
Prayer and Liturgy are at the heart of all that we do at St Simon's. They embed the school's ethos in its mission to do all things for the glory of God.
We pray and worship in a variety of ways at different times and different places. Whole school Masses take place, as do class Masses, assemblies led by the teachers and assemblies led by the children, in particular our wonderful Mini-Vinnies. Reflection takes place in groups, in classes or all together. We sing together, we pray together, we
listen, reflect and respond to scripture. We even became experts at online assemblies and socially distanced worship – nothing can stop our prayer and liturgy. At St Simon's we firmly believe that a family that prays together, stays together. Sometimes our worship raises the roof and at other times it is quiet, meaningful and reflective.
We take our lead from the Church’s liturgical year. Our intent is to enable children to understand the teachings of the Church and to translate their faith into their daily life.
Our strong focus on prayer and worship ensures that Christ remains at the centre of learning, helping children grow into thoughtful, loving, resilient individuals who understand their unique worth and their role in serving others.
