I am a mum to two boys who attend St Simon’s Catholic School. Prior to becoming a full time mum I worked in a number of rolls including 2 years in science research, 6 years within the Financial Services Sector, 4 of which involved complaints resolution, then three years working for the Healthcare Commission within their NHS Complaints Resolution Department. Since becoming a mum I have become an active member of the school’s PTA, working with both the school and its parents and carers to help raise vital funds to deliver fun activities for the children and families of St Simon’s. I also volunteer from time to time, and like to get involved with fundraising at events, with a particular interest in events that help fund activities for children and families with special educational needs and disabilities. Due to having a disabled child, who currently attends St Simon’s, I am keen to source activities and resources that are accessible for both able and disabled children, that open more doors for them and provide the tools to help them flourish in life. I am hoping that with my experience, I can bring to the school community ideas and suggestions that are inclusive of all children and families whatever their abilities. I am always open to new ideas, as well as making suggestions, whilst at the same time bringing a balanced and considered approach to any proposals that may be put forward.
I have been a part of the St. Simons family for over 5 years, both of my children attend the school and we all love the ethos of St. Simons. I play an active role in the PTA and have been involved in fun days, quiz night and helped with the Hazel Grove Carnival. I am an honest and reliable person and would love to have more involvement with the school.
Now that all of my 3 children are attending St Simon’s I would like to offer my time & skills to the governing body. As a mum of children in each of the key stages I care a huge amount about the education, opportunities, inclusion & well being of my own & all Children from nursery to Year 6. In my professional capacity as a Speech & Language Therapist working across both health & education I have a strong understanding around the curriculum, Special Educational needs, Safeguarding & children’s mental health. I also have knowledge of what is working really well in other schools across Stockport that might further build on all the great aspects of St Simons. I also have a working knowledge of school budgets & experience of finance & the HR process which may also be beneficial to the role. I feel I would be an enthusiastic, active & reflective member of the board if I am successful.
I am a 32 year old mother with two children, my eldest is in year 2 currently. I work at a academy Trust as a Governance officer which includes clerking Governing bodies and our Trust Board. I also clerk our finance committees within schools and our Trust Board.
I feel I could bring a fresh perspective to the work of existing Governors and have a voice for the parents of the school. I also feel I understand the requirements of the role.
St Simons is a super local school and just like all the parents I want it to continue to suceed and improve further.
