Our Learning: WC 12/05/25

In Science this week, the children had great fun learning about hand hygiene and the importance of keeping themselves and their environment clean in order to stay healthy.

With the support of a UV light, the children were able to see germs and the most common places that germs are found, including in-between our fingers and in creases such as our knuckles.

The children participated in a child-led investigation involving applying hand lotion and mixed herbs to their hands. They then shook hands with their peers and touched items around the classroom to see how easily germs are transferred from one person/place to another.

In conclusion, the children learnt about the importance of thoroughly washing their hands with soap and warm water for the duration of singing Happy Birthday on repeat twice. This is to minimise the amount of germs creeping into our bodies and making us feel unwell.
