Foundation Stage 1 (Nursery)

Welcome to the class page for Foundation Stage 1, Nursery. Mrs Clarke, Mrs Holmes and Mrs Stewart are the staff.

Routine

In Foundation Stage 1 we love to learn through exploring our environment. We have lots of exciting learning spaces throughout our class, inside and outside. When your child enters nursery there are welcoming/settling activities for your children, we then register and find out what the day has in store for us.

For most of our session we can choose when and where we play, inside and outside. We do lots of learning through active play which is structured to ensure we make progress in all areas of our development. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, full details of 'Development Matters' can be found here and found in FS entrance. Every day we also get together in small and larger groups for teaching sessions focusing on RE, Maths, Literacy, Phonics, PHSE, Circle Time etc.

There are so many different and wonderful things to do in our class, we firmly believe in having lots of fun, having a go, following our interests and learning  through play.

We spent the last 10 weeks leaning and talking about books. During our theme Jump into a Book we set up role play areas based on some of our favourite books and stories.

Our theme this block is “Rhymes, Chimes and Story Times!”

We will be reading and learning from and about a range of poems, rhymes and stories.
